ELSE NUCLEAR developed, among the first players worldwide, a deep know-how in all the activities connected to decommissioning of nuclear power plants. This led the company to design and manufacture different solutions for radioactive waste characterization, which find their main application in nuclear power plants, sites being decommissioned, hospitals, and wherever there is a need of waste clearance before free release.

Up to date, ELSE NUCLEAR manufactured and installed since its foundation many scanning systems in all the nuclear sites in the Italian territory. More recently, active collaborations with international partners led the company to expand its customer network abroad.

ADAMOS

Automated Drum Monitoring System

ADAMOS is an automated segmented gamma scanning system, designed to characterise drums filled with radioactive waste. The system layout can be defined from the available options to meet specific requirements.

AURAS

Free Release Waste Assay Counter

AURAS is an automated system designed to scan and characterise waste materials inside bags, boxes, drums, and B25 containers (density range: 100 – 2000 kg/m3). The system is equipped with up to four electro- or nitrogen-cooled HPGe detectors.

Contamination Monitor for Tools and Surfaces

The ARCHIMEDES II  is designed to perform fast measurements of the gamma activity of bags, containing potentially contaminated materials.

The mechanical structure is mounted on wheels to be easily handled, and a set of adjustable supports allow to stabilise the monitor.

Radiation Portal Monitor for Excavation Materials

The ARCHIMEDES III radiation portal monitor is designed to measure the radioactivity level of excavation materials of various nature.

The portal is composed, in its standard configuration, of two couples of large surface detectors (5000 cm2), each mounted on the sides of the mechanical structure.

BOX COUNTER Contamination Monitor for Small Items

The BOX COUNTER system is designed to perform a fast gamma contamination check of laundry, waste bags, tools and other small objects, to be placed inside a shielded measurement chamber (M.C.).

Measurement results, alarms and malfunctions are visualised by the control console and also signalled by a built-in alarm column. A digital scale allows to acquire the weight of the objects to be measured.

Conveyor Belt Gamma Contamination Monitor

The CARONTE gamma contamination monitor is designed to easily measure the radioactivity level of small objects, such as boxes, tools or laundry bags, transported across a measurement area by a conveyor belt.

The scanning cycle and the measurement procedure are entirely controlled by the software installed on the control PC, which manages the PLC commands sequence.
